OUR STORY

Three women standing in front of a banner at a mental health event. The banner features images of a mother and child, with text promoting mental health services and support for Black girls.

BGMH Foundation was founded by three mothers and clinicians who saw firsthand what happens when women and birthing people cannot access the mental health care they need during and after pregnancy. They watched systemic barriers, provider shortages, and the absence of culturally responsive care leave families without support during one of the most vulnerable seasons of their lives. So they built something different. We believe mental health care should be accessible, culturally responsive, and rooted in the realities of the communities we serve. That belief is why this Foundation exists, and it is what keeps us going.

"We believe mental health care should be accessible, culturally responsive, and rooted in the realities of the communities we serve."
