CDPH MCAH Strategy in Action: Advancing Black Birth EquityTogether in California
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has developed a two-year Black Birth Equity (BBE) Action Plan to address the health and well-being of Black mothers, birthing people, and their families. This initiative was developed through collaboration with the Black Birth Equity Statewide Advisory Group (SAG), the California Coalition for Black Birth Justice, and Liberation by Design.
Centering the Voices of Black Women, Mothers & Birthing People
The Black Girls Mental Health Foundation conducted a 2026 Community Needs Assessment to better understand the experiences of Black women and birthing people. The study included 305 community respondents and 49 perinatal care providers.
